The limo hadn’t even pulled away from the curb before the questions started and conversation exploded around me.

“What year was he in Playgirl?” Paula asked as she started scrolling through her phone.

“Playgirl’s all nude like Playboy, right?” Sis asked. When Paula nodded, Sis shook her head. “Nope. Not looking at Twilight’s junk.”

Blue looked serious for a second and then bit her lip. “August, do you mind if we look at Tyler’s junk?”

“It’s out there in the world for all to see, so I suppose it’s fine,” I replied. I thought about it for a second and then grinned. “I must say, it’s impressive enough to be in print, and you’re all gonna be jealous.”

“You’re handling this better than I would,” Sis admitted. “Are you sure you’re okay?”

“I’ll admit, I didn’t know this was where he was going when he said he had a second job, but it explains so much. I’ve seen the man move, and let me tell you . . .”

“Do not tell us,” Matalie snapped. “I can’t believe you went behind our backs and started dating Twilight! How long has this been going on?”

“You knew I was seeing someone, Auntie,” I reminded her, trying to diffuse the situation.

“But I didn’t know it was Twilight!”

“Why does it matter who it is as long as he’s good to me?”

“Do you know what your father’s going to do when he finds out? That’s . . . He’s . . . Twilight crossed a line.”

“He did not!”

“Yes he did, August. Gus is his mentor, and Twilight went behind his back and started fucking his daughter? How is that not crossing a line?”

“We’ve all had a few drinks tonight, so maybe this isn’t the right time to hash this out,” Jenn said calmly.

Matalie shot a glare at Jenn and then turned her attention back to me. “There’s nothing to hash out. Apparently, August is just as good at lying now as she was when she was a teenager.”

“I didn’t lie about anything! I don’t have to tell the world my business!”

“I didn’t say anything about the world. I’m not important to you? My opinion doesn’t matter? Or your father’s?”

“He’s been my father for three whole months, Matalie,” I snapped. “I don’t think he gets a vote on this, and neither do you since I’m a grown ass woman.”

Matalie’s eyebrows knitted together when she roared, “You’re 22! You’re still a child! He’s . . . How old is he?”

“His age is none of your business,” I said calmly.

“You just wait until your father hears about this,” Matalie threatened.

“And then what? He’s going to get him kicked out of the cool kids’ club?”

“Jenn’s got a point. We should hold off on this . . .”

“Mind your business, Blue,” Matalie snapped.

Blue’s eyebrows rose in shock, but I didn’t care and neither did Matalie. “It’s not your business either, Aunt Matalie. What Tyler and I do is our business.”

“Not for long,” Matalie fumed.

“Ladies, this is not the time or place for this discussion. Don’t look at me like that, Matalie.
